About this Painting - I have always had a fascination for the Amazon Jungle with its many plants, animals and birds and wanted to create this environment in a painting that was teaming with color and life. I have birds at home that are Parrotlets but have always been fascinated with the colors and personalities of these birds so wanted to bring this vision to life and began to piece ideas, plants and animals together that are here in the subtropics of Florida to show life in the Amazon Jungle in South America.

I created this painting as a series of paintings along with the Toucans you see in this exhibit to show native birds in their natural environment with their many colors and surrounding plants, lighting and other animals to show how the Amazon is teaming with life and why as humans, we need to protect this delicate ecosystem and protect the wildlife and the people that live and inhabit this land. The Amazon is a mysterious place but is often called the heart of the planet with its unspoiled beauty. Which is why we need to cherish and protect it and preserve it.

This is a large original acrylic painting, professionally presented in a wooden frame with double matting in tan and burgundy colors. To add to the surrounding plant life, I added in some banana tree leaves outside of the matting as well to give a 3D effect of plants growing outside of the matte border to give a layered effect of plants overlapping and growing into the picture. I hope you enjoy this effect, it is the first time I tried this and want to add to this series with other 3D effects using paper and layers of paint and objects and not just a flat surface.
